My journey into this ancient art of healing began in 2021 under the guidance of Tangi-Metua Takie and Debbie Wymer at the Ngākau Ora Traditional Māori Healing Clinic in Titirangi, Auckland. Here, I learned the sacred ways of Romiromi, becoming a devoted to the practice of this healing massage modality ever since.
A little bit more about me and my life journey up to this point - before becoming a Romiromi practitioner, I was a full-time ecologist, working for the conservation of endangered animals and ecosystems around the world such as howler monkeys, manatees, humpback whales; and in New Zealand with native frogs, bats, kiwis and tuataras.
It was after experiencing my first Romiromi session when I witnessed first hand the profound impact of this healing modality. A few months later I got gifted a place into a Romiromi wānanga, and after practicing for some time under the supervision of my mentors I was given permission to go on my own and share this practice, understanding that the knowledge bestowed upon me was not just a skill, but a profound responsibility.
My mission is to extend the transformative power of Romiromi to as many people as possible. Yet, my purpose goes beyond individual healing, it encompasses the preservation of this rich culture. By being one of the carriers of this traditional knowledge, I have the responsibility and commitment to share it with the world. Through my practice, I endeavor to honor the lineage of my teachers, keeping the flame of Māori heritage alive wherever my destiny is to be. I stand as a kaitiaki and I aspire to pass this taonga onto the next generations when the time is right.
Join me on this profound journey of healing, balance and cultural preservation. Let us come together on a path towards wellness, where ancient wisdom meets modern lives, and where the body, mind and spirit finds its harmonious balance.
